  • Bethesda Arts & Entertainment District

     

    The Bethesda Arts & Entertainment District was designated by the state of Maryland in 2002, and re-designated again in 2012. Additionally, the Maryland Department of Economic Development awarded the Bethesda Arts & Entertainment District the Arts & Entertainment District Outstanding Achievement Award in 2012.

    The Bethesda Arts & Entertainment District produces high quality artistic and cultural programming that benefits residents, businesses and tourists and supports the community’s growth and vitality. Events produced by the Arts & Entertainment District highlight local artists, writers and performers and provide them a venue to show their work in the community. These programs include Gallery B, Paint the Town, The Trawick Prize, Bethesda Painting Awards, Bernard/Ebb Songwriting Awards, Play in a Day, Bethesda Film Fest and Bethesda Fine Arts Festival. Additionally, the Bethesda Urban Partnership produces the Bethesda Literary Festival, Taste of Bethesda, Imagination Bethesda and Winter Wonderland as well as promotes downtown Bethesda as a dining, shopping and arts destination. 
     
  • SELECTION
    Members of the Bethesda Arts & Entertainment District and arts professionals will review the applications and select the Studio B artists. If necessary, an interview may be requested. Applicants will be notified about whether their applications have been selected. Bethesda Urban Partnership will perform credit and criminal background checks and execute leases with the tenants. Once maximum occupancy is reached, applicants will be placed on a waiting list until a studio becomes available.

    I agree to allow the Bethesda Urban Partnership to review this application and supporting documents to assist in determining eligibility to obtain and artist studio. I understand that the Bethesda Urban Partnership may share any pertinent information with the Bethesda Arts & Entertainment District to assist in screening my eligibility to obtain a studio, and I authorize the Bethesda Arts & Entertainment District or a third party to review my credit history and criminal background. Additionally, the Bethesda Arts and Entertainment District or a third party may contact past landlords, employers, creditors, neighbors, professional references and other sources, as permitted by Maryland law. I certify that the information provided on this application is true and complete to the best of my knowledge. I am aware that any misrepresentation will result in the forfeiture of my right to be eligible for any opportunities through BUP and that inquiries may be made to verify the information I provide. I agree to provide BUP with written notice if any information provided by me in this application becomes untrue or incorrect during the application/leasing process. Additionally, I understand that this is an application for a studio and does not constitute a rental or lease agreement in whole or part. Further, I understand that there is a non-refundable fee to cover the cost of processing the application and I will not receive a refund even if I do not lease a studio.
