The General H. Hugh Shelton Leadership Center is seeking your help to provide opportunities for youth to attend the Shelton Challenge this summer. According to our graduates, the program provides long-lasting impacts for those who attend:
"I realized that when leading, it felt natural and did wonders for my self esteem/confidence. I also learned a great lesson about leadership. You don’t have to boss people around to be a leader. The Leadership Reaction Course helped show me that others input was important and that people will respect you more if they know they have a say in what the team decisions are.” - 2010 Shelton Challenge Graduate
“Everyone asks me why I came all the way from Hawaii to the Shelton Challenge? Simply put–this leadership training is one of a kind that you can’t find anywhere else. I have used all that I have learned in my personal, work, and school life. Trust me, once you have been to Shelton, you will want to keep coming back.” - 2008 Shelton Challenge Graduate
"Attending the Shelton Challenge is not just about a one-week experience that ends at graduation; it is rather the beginning of a life-long journey in your personal and leadership development. The seeds that were planted during my original week as a Shelton camper are the resources that have empowered and motivated me to reach the leadership achievements I have throughout my college education." - 2003 Shelton Challenge Graduate
We have minimized the program attendance fee each year; however, the actual cost per student continues to increase every year. It costs our program approximately $700 per youth to attend the institute, yet we only ask students to pay $625. We would like for you to consider helping us in this endeavor to sustain the program supporting the Shelton Challenge in one of the following ways: a general contribution to our scholarship resources or sponsorship of a specific administrative cost.
